Debra enjoys illustrating and designing around nature, family pets, History, Education, Classic Literature, Poetry, and Childrens' books.
Debra has created logos and artwork for printed materials as well as large painted murals for large events. She has also participated in creating art for non-profit fundraising events.

Debra worked in the medical field for 12 years in various capacities which give her a unique understand the importance of accurate medical illustrations and how they are used ina healthcare setting.
Debra's hand-drawn illustrations begin with sketching out multiple ideas until she lands on the one that communicates the desired message. From hand-drawn sketches to the final product involves about three weeks minimum in order to create a color comp, communicate with the client, and create the final piece of artwork. Debra creates original hand-drawn illustrations in pencil, pen & ink, oil paint, acrylic paint, and watercolor pencil.
Classic literature is something Debra has enjoyed throughout her life. When she reads, Debra automatically imagines what the scene would look like and how she could communicate the scene and emotion through art. When she doesn't have an active client project in progress, Debra illustrates whatever book she is currently reading.
Debra follows the same process while creating digital illustrations that she does with a traditional illustration. The process begins with brainstorming ideas, creating sketches, proceeding to a color comp, and after approval from the client, completing the final artwork.
The advantage of digital is that it can be sized to accommodate multiple uses from business cards to billboards.
With her vivid and active imagination, it is easy for Debra to envision pictures in motion to communicate a message. Her previous projects have included creating a self-portrait in motion, a short introduction reel for a piece of poetry, and an advertisement for a music festival.
Debra has had the pleasure to create an advertising brochure for a nonprofit as well as for a spa. She loves taking on the challenge of creating a clean design that clearly communicates the main message and to communicate clearly and quickly.
Having only had the opportunity to create one mockup for an audiobook, Debra greatly enjoyed the process and experience. Debra would love the opportunity to create artwork for more audiobook covers. She herself listens to audiobooks frequently and understands the importance of engaging cover art.
